Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship at Burlington, Iowa
Schedule (Calendar)

July/August Services

July 4:   Adult Discussion -- Lawn Chair Discussion outside under the trees, complete with coffee and food.  Bring your lawn chair and join the discussion and refreshments. We'll enjoy the discussion and treats inside if weather doesn't cooperate.

July 11: Rev.  Roger Mohr,  “Report from General Assembly.”  The UUA, our national organization, held our general assembly or annual meeting last month.  Although I could not attend everything, of course, I learned quite a bit about what is going on in our movement and enjoyed it very much.  Definitely worth the trip! (Also in Keokuk)

July 18:  Forum --"The Murder of Eunice Rockefeller: Did Big Money Cheat Justice?" Russ Fry has been researching his family history and discovered a murder, a guilty verdict and a pardon.  Surprising evidence.

July 25:  Forum --"Iowa's Native Prairie" Judy Smithson and Barbara Bonnett

August 1:  Forum -- The Baha'is:  An Introduction to the Baha'i beliefs and history.  Mark McDowell.

August 8:  Roger Mohr, “The New Humanism.”  In our conversations at the fellowship, we have been increasingly interested in the ways that Humanism and  Earth-centered orientations can inform one another.  At General Assembly, it seemed that this question was on many other people’s minds, as well.  Why is this question so important, and what direction are we heading? (Also in Keokuk)

August 15: Forum -- "What Canst Thou Saith." Carol Bartles will discuss the Quaker Testimonies and why they are so important.  How do principles established 350 years ago have any relevance today?

August 22: Lay Lead -- "T-Shirt Philosophy"   Barb Zoellin-Malm.  You are invited to wear (or bring) a T-shirt that represents an organization, political stand, personal bias, etc., that you support and share your philosophy with us.

August 29: Lay Led -- Rick Johnson. "Pantheism" In Pantheism the Diety and Universe are identical and inseparable.  Pantheism roots can be found in ancient Greek Philosophies and Chinese and Indian religions.  Divinity can be found everywhere in the Universe; it is awe-inspiring and can touch the human soul if we let it. We'll take a look at Panthieist thought through the ages and see how it informs spirituality in our modern times.
